Abstract Plum Blossoms UME 2.0 2.1 Release

Abstract Plum Blossoms UME 2.0 2.1 Release

Posted by Misa on 28th Aug 2021

Hello!

I've been receiving a lot of support and encouragement for this release. It feels like forever since I made a Japanese related major release (all my other releases were either tangents, or very small quantities... like two pairs) and it seems like it is well liked although it is much simpler than my usual style.

I've explored a variety of new shapes - in particular the hanging semi-circles (almost looks like a fan) - that pair is already sold. Perhaps I might be able to do a collection just solely on this shape?! I think it will be SUPER fun if I have a fan series, but that might be a little down the track as I need to get started on the next project which I have been meaning to do forever.

The price range for the UME 2.0 2.1 collection is between $25-$40 which is a super accessible and affordable price range. They have all taken quite a bit of time - especially with sanding and extra care as they have a pure white base. Even the yellow base for the 2.0 is a bit tricky as yellow is a light colour. In short, the 2.0 is a pretty funky colour combo for those who like their earrings bright, just in time for spring. The 2.1s on the other hand are based on porcelain ware, hence the 24K gold foil accents and colourway.

I understand not everyone likes their earrings super big, or super detailed (because I know earrings are very small... and nobody is going to lean in very close to see details, given the whole COVID situation. I know they might be fascinating to look at though) so hopefully with this collection, it's a good balance between florals, detail and simplicity. The plum blossoms are deliberately a bit abstract and not perfect, which is a style you can see often now in modern fabric prints - and gives them a bit of a cute vibe.

Today has been a rollercoaster ride for me and I took a bit of special effort to take some different stylised photos for this range. I actually enlisted some help from my husband who is a professional photographer (albeit specialising in portraits), but ended up using the majority of photos I have taken and stylised myself.

Thank you again everyone who has given likes, shared my posts, made a purchase. Every one of you mean a lot to me especially in my making journey as even until now it feels surreal and I'm so unsure of what I am doing. I mean unsure as in because I'm chasing a rather different approach to earring making and trust me, it hasn't been smooth sailing as a lot of my applications are met with question marks, or lumped together as "we have something similar" - which I'm pretty confident, not the case. One thing I know for sure though, is that there are infinite possibilities, and I'll be chasing them with as much creativity as I can pump out. Thank you again!

PS: Stay safe. Those daily case numbers, yikes!
