Next: Peonies and other updates

Posted by Misa on 6th Sep 2021

Hi everyone!

I've had a really lovely weekend and again I must thank you all for your support. Two of the sunflowers were snapped up immediately - so if you missed out on those particular styles, sorry! There are still two pairs of the larger sized earrings available. They look amazing in person, so I am confident these will be picked up at a pop up or even online down the track. If you're interested, do make it yours before someone else does.

The next release will be Peony 2.0, as my first collection (comprised of 3 pairs, one which I will always forever cherish and wear lots - other 2 sold at Kirribilli Markets) was a while ago and sold out by April 2021. I'm still considering what colours to use, and thinking about how I can make peonies in a different way. You will know for sure that when I release a second version (2.0 etc), they will definitely be constructed in a different way than the first.

I've been ordering in parts, and to my surprise (a rather unexpected expense) jewellery boxes, as my black earring boxes are down to the last 30 or so. Wow. A while back I ordered hundreds of these boxes for something else I never quite got around to doing, so I decided to use up these boxes first. I'm a bit emotional as I believed I would never use these boxes, but not even six months later, I'm almost out of these. Thank you to each and every one of you who owns a black box (or a few!).

I only ordered a few new boxes from a local supplier to check the sizing and quality, which will hopefully be enough to last me... I don't know, a while, depending on how many earrings are sold in the following months/ weeks. The best thing about a local supplier is that I know it's there, and it's ready. However with the whole COVID situation, I know that things are quite uncertain and if the supplier runs out of boxes, I could be in a bit of a pickle. I am looking at printed options, but they will also be coming from overseas (Europe). It will be something I'll consider... but maybe in a month or two months' time closer to Christmas.

I'm keeping an eye on on any clay restocks around me, as I completely slept through one (didn't know until I woke up in the morning and almost everything has been swept out... noooo). I still might order something, as I mean why not... I've been making crazy orders left right and centre lately. I'd better get back to making...

Oh yes, and lastly, in the past week there was an announcement from AusPost pausing parcel collections and having a huge backlog. This means that it will take longer for parcels to deliver.

At this stage I'm not too concerned, as I do send my parcels in a larger than you expect size (because this stops your parcel from being caught at the bottom of a parcel bag, and staying there fore another week or two - yes, this does happen if your parcel is too small), and I do send the parcels in either a white or attach something colourful to it, so again it does not get lost (ever tried looking for a black phone in a handbag in the backseat of a car at night?) - these are all things I've learned from past experience (working for another business). I lodge your parcels at my local post office, and they scan it in so it kick starts the tracking process. Due to packing the parcels appropriately, it also ensures they will reach you in a timely and safe manner. I will also submit an inquiry if I see anything unusual with the tracking events.

Speaking of which, I will soon need to look into new parcel packaging options... but that will be later down the track. For now, you can still expect your orders in an upcycled cardboard box, or a white bubble padded envelope.

Thanks again for reading - I'm going to finally get working on this week's release. Hoping this is going to be a good one... I was sketching this weekend, and I accidentally sketched something I really really liked, but that will need to wait another week or so as this week I'll be concentrating on peonies only. See you soon!
