Next Market: The Coal Loader Artisans Market (Autumn)
Posted by Misa on 18th May 2021
Hello! It's been a short while since my last blog.
I've been taking a little break, but I've also been experimenting with fabric headbands (which are by the way, very warm and great for the upcoming winter months). I've put my polymer clay projects on hold for a little while because I'm still undecided as to what colour base I would like - and I don't have the shape cutters to do it. If you haven't realised by now, my equipment is actually quite limited because I don't like fancy shapes, don't have much storage, and I am trying to keep my belongings as few as possible. I think though, I might need to get a few cutters to spruce up my collections, so that I have a new shape to offer, and hopefully can drive a new concept into an end product.
I've just come back from selecting fabric for a soft and cosy lining for the next batch of upcycled vintage kimono panel silk scarves - and I'm excited! I'll get cracking onto those soon, and hopefully I can upload them to the website early next week. The panels all look amazing and I can't wait to see how they turn out. I was going to keep one for myself... but I did order a few more to "compensate" as I couldn't decide. Oh oh oh now I don't know - I'll just have to make them all first and then decide.
My next market is The Coal Loader Artisans Market at Waverton in less than 2 weeks' time. I've written about this market, and it is a very important market for me as I set myself a goal and actually managed to achieve it. There will be over 100 artisan stalls, which makes this market HUGE considering that there are COVID restrictions and that this market has been on hold for a little while.
I will be in Jacaranda Square, which is just outside The Coal Loader Cafe - I'm keeping all my fingers crossed that the weather will be amazing because as you may gather, my packaging and products are not very good in wet or windy weather, and if it is going to be rainy or windy, I'm not sure if we'll be able to relocate - if I can't, then everything will be kept in my safe luggage case, and I'll only have a catalogue/ book to flick through. This is really not ideal, but it's my way of dealing with the weather, in the worst possible case!
Of course, it probably will be fantastic anyway, so if you can, please do come and support local. Have a browse and get inspired! I'm really looking forward to it.
