Limited Spring Release: Sakura 2.0
Posted by Misa on 19th Aug 2021
It's probably a maker thing, but I'm always curious and on the lookout seeing what cool things other people are making. I interpret and make my own version, but it's never a copy. I think as inspiration or a learning experience, that's all perfectly fine. Lately however, I feel like I've started to compare my work with others', even though I know it's pretty much like apples and bananas.
A lot of Mochi La Vie revolves around stuff I like.
I started making earrings because I couldn't find what I wanted (which were cherry blossoms). Even until now I still find it fascinating that the same flower has so many different interpretations.
When I'm at a market I'm often told that my work is very different to your usual polymer clay earring, and that's exactly what I was aiming for. Sometimes, I think it's also not a bad thing to revisit something I really really really like, and keep working it.
How many versions of cherry blossoms can be made? I think this as a project is interesting enough to explore for years.
I've been churning out some pretty different styles lately. I''m happy with Sakura 2.0 as it looks like my signature work, yet it involves some new design elements I've picked up in the recent month or two.
There are four pieces only and I didn't even get to make a pair for myself, because I ran out of the base colour (lol).
Thank you as always for reading and joining me! I'm glad that FLOWERS are making a return - it's just a comfortable series for me to work with, and I always find it a joy to see what I can create.
