AusPost delays, Textiles coming and Persistence!

Posted by Misa on 18th Jun 2021

Hi everyone!

It's a lovely Friday afternoon. I ran into a bit of trouble last week - finally sorted out!

AusPost seems to have some delays lately - I only encountered this during the past few days (what's up with AusPost not scanning or not moving their parcels?). I thought it was just me a week or two ago when I had two parcels within Sydney arrive in about 5 business days, but now that I'm the sender, it looks like it's an AusPost thing - I'm sorry for the delay, but I'll be checking the tracking every now and then to see if it moves. It's a bit frustrating as I know everyone likes to receive their goodies ASAP - and I also want you to receive your goodies ASAP too! Like paragraph number 1 though, I think patience is key... I'll wait until Monday and if nothing happens I'll lodge an investigation. The joys of dealing with AusPost - I prefer not to based on past experience - *runs*

In happy news, the MEDLEY patchwork scarves are now sold out - thank you so much! I also second guess myself but they have been really well received and within 3 weeks, they're all gone. BUT I have a parcel that will come probably mid next week so I think I should have enough time and material (fingers crossed I can match them up because it's a complete surprise) for more in time for The Cannery, and of course, Kirribilli in mid-July.

I think I will eventually phase out the large panel scarves - they have been really well liked, but I'm introducing a new scarf soon, and the large panel scarves actually need their price adjusted. Well, it won't be happening any time soon (and I'm having my fingers crossed hopefully they will sold by then, or will be adjusted accordingly - next winter). I'm not too sure - it really depends on where you (as customers) take me, as half the items I make depend on shopping preferences/ habits, and the other half my own predictions or things I just like to make.

I'm really excited for this parcel to arrive - it is over 6kg of Japanese textiles, which is HUGE to me. I will be making some MEDLEY scarves (I will have fun trying to match bits and pieces together, hoping there's enough to play with), and I'll probably make a few more vintage silk headbands as those are gone too. Maybe it's winter, but a lot of my textiles have been selling, so I'll try my best to replenish a bit.

A little secret - I've been working on a new clay earring... they're done but I'm still thinking about a name for them, and there will be two pairs available. They belong under the Japanese motifs collection, so it's not to everyone's taste, but it will brighten up the stall and hopefully is a conversation starter. I feel that under this category I'm able to go crazy and make things that hopefully have never been seen before, and to make things as a creative process.

Waiting for market application results to come back... a bit nerve racking because it's been a while... but I also know it might not work out because there's so much competition out there. Hoping for the best!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend (forecast for next week looks rainy - eep) and stay warm. It's freezing in Sydney.

PS: July pop ups have been updated to the Pop Up stall page. I'm hoping for a new venue in August just to shake/ change things up a bit. But I'll need to do my research x
